Call at least 3 auto transporters during business hours to compare prices, services, and insurance.

Check with the FMCSA-The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration maintains a hotline (888) 368-7238 for consumers to check on a shipper's license and insurance record as well as whether any complaints have been made about the company

Wash your car. A clean car makes inspection faster and easier.

Remove any personal items from your car.
They will not be covered by the transporter's insurance, nor your own personal auto insurance.

Remove any detachable accessories from your car, including spoilers, fog lights, GPS systems, and antennas.

Drive car down to about ¼ tank of gas. This is suggested for weight and safety.

Turn off your car alarm.

Be sure to keep an extra complete set of keys for yourself - in addition to the set that you give to your driver. This is a D.O.T requirement.

Be sure to specify if your car is: not in driviable condition, is over sized or has any special modifications on it at the time of the quote.

Consider using an enclosed transport trailer to ensure that your custom, rare or classic vehicle will not be exposed to the elements. If there is any concern at all about keeping your vehicles exterior in pristine condition this may be worth the extra cost!
